A new year and a new chair
Ever since our launch in 2017, the CONNECTED Network has benefited from the wisdom, expertise and diplomacy of Professor Nicola Spence as our Management Board Chair. We are sorry to have to announce that after several years of dedication to CONNECTED and its members, Nicola is now stepping down.

All of us in the Network Team would like to thank Nicola for her service and dedication.
We are delighted to announce that our current Deputy Chair, Dr Lava Kumar, Head of Germplasm Health Unit at IITA, Nigeria, will be stepping up into the position of Chair.
I look forward to building on the excellent work Nicola Spence and the fellow members of the Board have done, and to taking CONNECTED into the future and continuing to strengthen and support our network.

Dr Kumar has chaired the Management Board on many occasions over the years, and has always used great skill and diplomacy, making board meetings go smoothly and efficiently.
We are working hard to secure the future of the CONNECTED Network, seeking short and long term funding as well as delivering our 2022 programme of activities and networking funded by BCAI.
