The fourth of the 2021 CONNECTED Online Seminar Series will take place on Thursday 19 August (10.30 – 12 noon, UK time), with two presentations,  opportunities for Questions and Answers, and for networking.

The speakers and topics will be:

Dr Lava Kumar 

International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria
“Controlling Transboundary Spread of Vector-Borne Viruses in Africa: Banana Bunchy Top Virus Case Study”

Dr. Kumar is a Head of Virology and Molecular Diagnostics Unit/Germplasm Health Unit at the Headquarters of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, Nigeria. He has over 25 years of experience in the application of integrated approaches to control plant virus diseases.

Dr. Emmanuel Okogbenin

African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), Kenya  
“The Imperatives and Key Tweaks to Building a Sustainable Agricultural Transformative Change in Africa”

Dr. Okogbenin has a multi-disciplinary background as a Plant Molecular Geneticist/Breeder and Agronomist (plant nutrition and physiology) with scientific publications in these disciplines.  He has professional/research working experience of 30 years at both international and national systems in both Africa and South America.
