CONNECTED Training Grants: applications now open

Opportunities for lab visits, work shadowing, courses / workshops

Applications are now open CONNECTED network members for a grant up to the value of £3,000 for training and learning activities, such as:

  • attending courses or workshops providing knowledge and skills in plant virology and/or entomology
  • laboratory learning visits, and
  • work shadowing.

Applicants are able to choose what their proposed visit will include and its duration. Due to administrative processes, we strongly advise you to apply for funding for training opportunities beginning at least four months from the time of application. Grants can be used to cover travel, visas, immunisation, accommodation, subsistence, course fees and consumables.

Places are limited and will be awarded following a competitive review process. All network members may apply, and preference will be given to those who are Early Career Researchers and to those who are based in Development Assistance Committee (DAC) listed countries. All applications must be supported by your organisation by way of a letter of support from your group leader.

Whilst it is the responsibility of the applicant to identify a relevant training course or organisation they wish to visit, a suggested list of UK group leaders is available to network members upon request, but this list is not exhaustive. UK group leaders are under no obligation to agree to host a network member in their laboratory.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a short evaluation form at the outset and upon completion of their training, and a follow up six – 12 months later, for inclusion in network outcomes reporting.

The application deadline is 4pm (GMT) Wednesday 17 March.

Following review, applicants will informed of the outcome of their application no later than midnight, Friday 16 April.
