Training Vouchers available up to the value of £3,000

Opportunities for lab visits, work shadowing, courses / workshops

CONNECTED Virus Network Training VouchersApplications are now invited from CONNECTED network members for the second phase of the Training Voucher Scheme, allowing early career researchers (ECRs) to apply for a funded training visit, up to the value of £3,000.

Amongst the objectives of CONNECTED is enabling network members, particularly ECRs, to enhance their knowledge and skills for career progression. The Training Voucher scheme is a key element of this work.

Training Vouchers are available via competitive application, and aim to support network members to take advantage of training opportunities, which can include (but are not limited to):

  • attendance at courses or workshops,
  • laboratory learning visits, and
  • work shadowing

Applicants are able to choose what their visit will include and its duration.

Applications are open to all network members who are ECRs, with preference given to those based in Development Assistance Committee (DAC) listed countries. Students are not eligible for Training Vouchers.

Whilst it is the responsibility of the applicant to identify a relevant training course or organisation they wish to visit, a list of UK group leaders is available to network members upon request as suggestions, but this is not exhaustive. UK group leaders are under no obligation to agree to host a network member in their laboratory.

Please note that applications for Training Voucher funding must be for activities that will have concluded no later than 30 April 2020.

Successful applicants will be required to provide a short report following the completion of their training, for inclusion in network outcomes and publicity (a template will be provided).

The application deadline is midnight, 28 September 2019.
